I believe that people have become disconnected from what motivates them in life, which is love. Instead, they are driven by force. I hold onto my beliefs so tightly because I believe that true Calvinism is the freest a person can be while still living on this earth. I always counsel others based on what they believe about God because I believe that is the most important thing in life.I believe that it is crucial to remember that any agreement we make that is not based on God's free forgiveness and grace is simply another choice. It is like playing Russian roulette--you cannot have what I have in my hand until you take the necessary actions to make the exchange. I think this is a very dangerous analogy because it implies that we are in control of our own salvation. The gospel is actually much more empowering: God loves sinners because He has done all the work, and He offers us His free forgiveness and grace as a free gift. When we approach God without any preconceived notions or conditions, we are more likely to receive His blessings. However, when we make deals with God, asking for things in exchange for our loyalty or obedience, we are essentially asking for Him to treat us badly. This is because we are effectively asking Him to make us realize that we are not gods. I believe that we can be emotionally hurt or disappointed by religious zealots who blindly follow their beliefs without any real conviction or understanding. Any man will swear that his beliefs are the right ones, even if he has no real evidence to support them. Everyone believes that they are right based on their own understanding or learning. We should be open to listening to different groups' beliefs, even if we don't agree with them, because they might be able to give us warning about potential dangers. Some people believe that it is important to make deals with others, but this can lead to us making mistakes. God has designed things to work in this way and there is no other option.
