The agreement that God has made with people is unbreakable, and in it, God promises to give people everything they could ever need. This agreement is seen as already finished for those who God has chosen. The goals that God has for His agreement are not to hurt them, but to bless them. This is not because of anything people do, but because we live in God's kindness. However, God also warns us that we cannot understand His ways. He says "my ways are not your ways, neither are my thoughts your thoughts." In other words, the only reality of thinking that we enjoy is that which He has directly said. This is why God has not defined the quality of our lives in an individual sense – instead He has left it up to us to define our own lives, as He rules from the heavens. This distinguishes us from being gods, as we are the sum total of what goes on around us – those decisions that impact our lives that we have no control over, and God's promise to act in this world to vindicate His people. So we are caught in a world that actively hates God and because of this, they hate His people.Liberals tend to believe that God is already taking care of everything in the world, so they think things are gradually getting better. They believe that God is sovereign and in control, so they don't worry about the problems in our lives. But if salvation is the only good in this world, and the reality of evil as opposed to the good is evident, then it is necessary for the good of His elect that God also defends them. If God has already won, then don't you think that sorrow would also be eliminated? If it appears that God is indifferent to our suffering, and only interested in carrying out His promises, then He is not truly God. He is just another human being who will eventually disappoint us. This fundamental belief that our endurance has a perspective in which God is actively opposed to the evil in this world is the foundation of our understanding of true grace. It is essential to understand the gospel message and to remind ourselves of it regularly, because grace that is accessed through faith in Christ can result in assurance. In contrast, picturing God as uninvolved in the daily problems of His people can engender skepticism. The damage that is done to believers' relationship with God is greatest by those who think they have received new insight from God and see themselves as superior to others.
