I believe that history is important because it can give us a better understanding of the present. I have been living in the present for the last 20 years or so, but recently I have been thinking more about my childhood and early adulthood. Maybe it is because I am getting older, but those memories have become more fixed in my mind. I think part of the reason I am enjoying my life more now is because I don't have the same responsibilities as when I was raising my kids. I feel like I can finally do what I want to do, and I am feeling more emotional about it because I am realizing how much I have been missing out on.I find that I take comfort in memories of the past because they are simpler than the complexities of the present. In today's world, everything seems more confusing, so remembering simpler times helps me to relax. I usually come to this realization after meditating. I tend to feel very emotionally connected to my memories, especially the ones that are very vivid and powerful.I'm not sure why this is, but it's something that I've noticed about myself. Maybe it's because I feel so rested when I think about those memories, or maybe it's something else entirely. Either way, it's something that I experience and it's something that I'm trying to understand.
