I maintain the belief that possessing the Holy Spirit does not exempt us from these inclinations. We possess the means to not only evaluate the doctrine presented in scripture, but also the Spirit through which that scripture is conveyed. While the former approach is commonplace, the latter is rarely explored among Christians. Each believer carries the remnants of their own biased interpretation of scripture, tainted by their human perspective. This is not a complete blindness, as believers are never truly blind, but rather an incapacity to perceive these matters beyond the confines of their own humanity. Just as they struggle with their besetting sins, they also grapple with a lack of comprehensive understanding. Consequently, everyone possesses flawed perspectives that must be rectified. Our inability to fully comprehend the falseness of certain teachings is linked to our discerning familiarity with the Spirit's illumination in the application of scripture to our souls. This familiarity ultimately determines our capacity to test the authenticity of the Spirit. Thus, it is no wonder that many religious individuals are deceived in the ongoing spiritual battle.
