It is remarkable how individuals who have come to know God, or rather have been acknowledged by God, can still revert back to the feeble and wretched principles they once followed. Is it their desire to subject themselves to enslavement once more? These individuals, destitute and lacking in fulfillment, willingly submit themselves to bondage, demonstrating an emotional longing that prompts their actions. Those who place their reliance on adhering to the law find themselves under a curse, as it is written, "Cursed is anyone who does not adhere to every single commandment in the Book of the Law." It is an arduous task to bear the burden of the law on one's shoulders. There exists only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who possesses the power to save and destroy. Who are we, mere mortals, to pass judgment on our neighbors? When we assume the role of the law's judgment, we effectively bring about destruction. In this way, the law imposes a sentence of death upon us, as it is impossible to attain righteousness through the law without incurring its curse. However, Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by willingly becoming a curse for us, for it is written, "Cursed is anyone who is crucified on a tree." He accomplished this redemption in order for the blessing bestowed upon Abraham to extend to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, enabling us to receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. The Spirit, in turn, operates by bestowing various gifts upon us.
