There is a spiritual dimension to reality that we can access through our intuition and understanding. I agree that there is a spiritual side to things that we can't always explain through our regular senses. However, I believe that truth is truth, no matter how we experience it. Having the Holy Ghost living gives us the ability to transcend our regular experiences and tap into something more spiritual. What does it mean to have fellowship with the Holy Spirit? I think it means that we have the potential to go much deeper than we usually do, spiritually speaking. Here we are, having all of these eternal desires. These new desires come to us when we are illuminated by the Spirit, and we respond to them by transcending our understanding and moving beyond sense perception. If I have given you the impression that this is merely an intellectual exercise, then I have left out a significant part of the reason we have faith. Our faith is based on both intellectual reasoning and understanding, as well as spiritual experiences and insights that go beyond our everyday experiences. It is essential for doctrines to have an impact on the heart for them to be truly effective. There must be some internal transformation experienced for the teachings to take root. Without this, the doctrines remain abstract and lifeless. What draws me to study these teachings is not simply intellectual understandind, but feeling the vitality and power of God's love. We are thinking beings, unless we feel the emotion and power behind the doctrine, we will not be able to understand fully. A religion that is cold and heartless is not worth studying. He is sovereign, and time is moving to a final event, that is His purpose. In that purpose is the pleasure of Him working these things. If there were no pleasure working in us, there would be little faith that He is present. How can we have a profound understanding of His sovereignty if we do not experience absolute peace in any circumstance, even when we have to fight for it?If the peace of God does not fill us, changing mour circumstances and state of mind, then it is only an idea and not reality. Have you ever experienced such a profound sense of tranquility that you could hear the whisper of angels? Have you ever experienced the peace that God enraptures your thoughts and desires?
