There is a spiritual dimension known as the heavens. I don't think of it as necessarily a physical location. The Bible says to set our affections on things above, not on the things of this world. This means we have a responsibility to understand the spiritual realities that exist beyond what we can see with our physical eyes. We are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces in the heavenly realms. This requires us to grow in wisdom, knowing how to pray and be aware of the spiritual forces that are driving our culture. When we pray in wisdom, we are engaging in a spiritual battle against the evil forces that oppose us, rather than using prayer as a tool that will do all the work for us. The world may think this behavior is foolish and worthless, but it is actually very important. We are talking about being personally involved in a battle against our own desires and evil thoughts in order to overcome the opposition. If we do not have a personal stake in this battle, then we would not consider it a good use of our time. The bible describes a revealed word as a word of salvation. This refers to God's word as a final declaration that everything in this world is moving toward renewal and His glory. But God has given us a battle plan to overcome as we are involved in His battle. God is opposing anything that is destructive. He wants us to be part of the solution, not the problem. We need to be on the lookout for anything that would hinder or destroy what God is doing in the world. We need to be ready to fight against it.The Bible teaches that those who are wicked will often curse God, but God will continue to curse them in return. This is seen in the story of Balaam, where a wicked man asked God to curse Balaam, but God ended up cursing the man himself. This story demonstrates that, despite the opposition of wicked people, God will ultimately prevail.
