The society geared toward instant gratification is male-dominated. This poses a greater threat to the spiritual well-being of society as men begin to think higher of themselves based on superficial things like the number of their friends or their discipline. Men are often soft and cowardly when it comes to using their spiritual gifts, and they tend to think that they are in control of their own lives and that they can choose what they want. This luxury fantasy world that men live is detrimental to their spiritual development. In a society geared towards instant gratification, men are more likely to think of themselves as superior because of superficial things. .Men will not openly curse God if they lose their money or their families, but they may internally cringe at the thought of having to pour their hearts out to God in love. They are more interested in blaming second causes, rather than bowing down and acknowledging the terror of the Lord. The Lord is to be feared; He is awesome, and He has the power to set one person up and bring another down. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, but men think that they are too good for God to not take some kind of responsibility in the outcome of their lives. They would much rather remain in a state of indifference and managed lifestyle than to return to the Lord with all of their hearts and bow down to Him in acknowledgement of His awesome power. It is widely accepted that effective leadership requires the ability to understand and empathize with those being led. This enables the leader to see things from others' perspectives and care about their feelings. Furthermore, successful leaders are often selfless, putting the needs of others before their own. There is much debate surrounding what else makes a good leader, with some believing that a leader must be fearless, while others contend that empathy is key. Others argue that greed is necessary for effective leadership, while others counter that selflessness is a requirement. The reason why men are unable to build a house unless God builds it is because they are too busy with their moral endeavors and their own agenda to see the absolute impossibility of it. They would rather that prayer, reading the word, and worship be secondary to buildings, money, committees, and dress. In other words, they are not focused on God and His will for their lives, but rather on their own goals and ambitions.Men often want to develop schemes in which they imagine themselves helping God through leadership positions. However, they often live in a state of religiosity that comes from their imaginations, and are thus unfamiliar with the great shepherd and the weight of His glory. There are few new converts, as most people only love cleaning the outside while leaving the poor in their helpless state. Yes, men's hearts are far from the Lord, but they are still religious.
