It is important to have a clear understanding of the spiritual man, and my dogmatic Calvinist position helps provide that understanding. However, all Christian efforts to do good in the world should be commended, regardless of whether or not they align with my particular beliefs. I sometimes cringe when my Calvinist brothers and sisters become more moderate in their views, because truth is absolute and cannot be compromised. In other words, I believe that my position is the correct one, but I still appreciate when other Christians try to do good, even if they don't agree with me.The Bible says that the soul of man receives sustenance from the truth, just as one would receive sustenance from food. So, all of these spiritual foods that we describe are like ripe fruit from the vine, and according to its description, we become more animated by its effect. This is why I dislike Greek thinking, because it redefines the concepts of the Hebrew motif, and in doing so changes the definition of the apostles' encouragement to follow his pattern.Paul was not like a Greek god who just received raw revelation as if he were the one who came out of heaven to deliver the message. Rather, the apostle was simply teaching what he had studied in the Old Testament books about salvation. We are not dividing these two hermeneutical views, but rather revealing how the Old Testament is understood in the New Testament. Because the Bible goes beyond describing the physical world; it goes beyond saying that the promises and commands make up the whole of the Bible. Rather, the Bible in each word describes the whole book. In other words, every word in the Bible is important and has meaning. This is how we can see that Paul was not just making things up as he went along, but rather was basing his teachings on a deep understanding of the Old Testament. The bible is not merely a book that encourages us to deal with our heart issues in a new way, but it actually uncovers the old beginnings of our faith. It is like a tool that goes down to the depths of our being and helps us to understand ourselves. So we should not just order our words to sound like Greek-minded new testament theologians, but we should allow the Old Testament to provide the foundation for our understanding of man and salvation. The Old Testament is essential to understanding who we are as humans and how we can be saved from our sin.The main issue here is that if we only judge Christianity by people's thoughts and actions, we may be tempted to change or reinterpret Christian doctrine to match our own wishes and requirements. This would mean taking away from what God says and giving more power to human beings, which would then change our ideas of things like salvation, sin, judgement, and grace. I hold onto Calvinism because it is more than just a set of beliefs – it is my experience of God actually communicating His life to my soul. Without this personal connection to God, our understanding of these important concepts would be drastically different.
