I do not agree with the two-line approach to the law, because it is incompatible with what Christ did. If the law has been fulfilled through Christ, then why do we give it a third use, in which it serves as a means of leading us to Christ? The scriptures say that the law acts as a pedagogue for those who think they can keep it, but they do not say that the saints must receive the same pedagogical instruction under sanctification. So, according to the law, we are free from condemnation. However, the law still serves as a guide to lead us to Christ. Therefore, there is no condemnation for us, but we are condemned in the sanctification process. This is another contradiction. How can we be genuine when we embrace contradictions? It's like saying "I love you" under the justification paradigm, but "I hate you" under the sanctification paradigm because you're so disobedient. It is often amusing to us when we encounter individuals who hold or act upon very extreme beliefs or behaviors - yet we ourselves often have contradictory beliefs or behave inconsistently. This can be especially true when it comes to religious beliefs and behaviors. I have non-Christian friends who are often better equipped at spotting when someone is attempting to deceive them than many Christians are. Christians often appear foolish to others when they encounter the more challenging teachings of Jesus, seeming to lack all confidence and failing to realize that they are being watched. Even non-Christians tend to be more balanced in their beliefs and behavior than many Christians are. The truth is that when we are saved, the bible teaches us that the law actually becomes our friend. It is our protection. So why would you then let it turn on you like a scorned woman and scratch your eyes out? There is only one logical reason you would go to the other extreme. You don't really believe that Christ fulfilled the law, and you're ready to abandon Him because your faith is weak. There are military soldiers who are more faithful to their confession than most people, enduring beatings and remaining true to what they believe. Christ fulfilled the law, and anyone who says otherwise is simply looking for an excuse to abandon their faith.
