Are you feeling frustrated because it has not brought you peace? I, too, have a lot of intellectual knowledge about the Bible, but what brings me true fulfillment is meditating on it. For me, making doctrine the most important part of my Christian experience has never been a priority. The beliefs and teachings of Christianity in itself have never been very reliable or secure to me. However, I do see the value in examining the facts and teachings of the reformation as a whole, much like one would appreciate the beauty of a painting. I believe that our meditation practices help to bring clarity and balance to our lives. I think that we all have a mental image of who we are supposed to be, and that this image guides our actions in the real world. I hope you will continue to share your experiences with me. For example, some individuals might think that it is irrational for God to find enjoyment in their suffering or that it is His will for them to go to hell. However, the Bible is a book that teaches wisdom and is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to everything that occurs in life. Therefore, these questions are not actually irrational, but simply beyond the normal human understanding.It is as if salvation is offered, but then retracted. This does not happen to instill fear in those who are being saved, but rather to give us a reason to always look on the bright side of things. This is not just restricted to eternity, but also our view of life in general. Christians should be the most appealing group when it comes to having a positive outlook, because they come at life from a perspective that is built on hope and faith--two things that are key to looking at life optimistically.
