Although the only way to achieve success is by adhering to the word of God, we often find ourselves in conflict with suggestions that are grounded in practicality rather than faith. The conflict arises when we are given direction that tries to make us compartmentalize our lives into different areas, straying from the straightforward trust in the gospel. When we attempt to make our own opinions equal to the scripture, we are nullifying the scripture's power. Some argue that if we only consider the word to be the only creation of future reality, then the importance of Christ's work is diminished. They say that this negates the significance of Christ's real historical accomplishments. However, if Christ is only a human being, then he is subject to the limitations of human existence. In essence, Christ cannot fix a problem without the help of man. Christ is no longer the eternal Word made flesh, but he is many things to all people. Christ's work is still important, but it is limited by his human nature.Christ's work as a pragmatic person is defined in terms that allow humans to lower the standard so that they can follow Him. However, we see that Christ not only came as a man to proclaim His word but also established the will of His Father as the reality that played out in His incarnation. If, in fact, Christ's authority only went as far as an offer to man, then He has no power to accomplish His purpose in keeping us in salvation. If His word was subject to our interpretation as how we are successful, then His word cannot save us to the end. The only counsel that can save us is the word of salvation that is found in the Bible.
