There is a great deal of mystery surrounding what God is doing when it comes to our sins. I have always thought that making quick, rash judgments about ourselves without taking the long-term view is like a curse in and of itself. There are messages we receive when we listen to teaching, but it is important to filter those messages through our own preexisting dispositions. Additionally, some of us have psychological issues that can distort the meaning of the teaching, so it is important to be careful when making quick judgments. This is a long-term process, not a quick fix. We all have different levels of desperation, which is why the Bible doesn't just say "read it and then go do something." It says to remind ourselves of its teachings all day long, because our feelings and motivation vary from moment to moment and day to day. Sin is not going to magically disappear, and we're not going to be any more able to resist it after a single teaching. We have to learn how to develop a new way of thinking. The new mind has different relationships with the inner experience.A believer's desire to learn and grow in their faith, and to experience God's grace in their weaknesses, is much stronger than any other desires they may have. This makes them less likely to be bothered by the sorrows of this life, and more passionate about Christ. When we ask to be taught, it is through Christ's ability that we are able to learn. This also allows us to be less affected by our sin, through the grace that God provides. When we take a close look at our weaknesses and failures, we can see them as opportunities for growth and learning. Acknowledging our shortcomings and mistakes can help us to understand what true praise really is. The most meaningful praise comes from a place of Christ-like life overcoming our current sins, and feeling overjoyed because He has given us pleasure when we needed it most. The more we know about God, His word, and how to pray effectively, we are able to connect with Him spiritually. It's as if our physical limitations are holding us back from being able to fully worship and praise God. But as we learn and grow closer to Him, we are able to let go of those earthly limitations and rise up to His glory. We are standing on a hill, and we feel as though we are rising to heaven. From this vantage point on the mountain top, we can see the world from a different perspective. Everything looks different from up here, and it feels holistically healing to the soul. We are in the Father's presence, and we are experiencing what it means to be a father in the faith.
