The impact of the kingdom of God on this earth is significant, particularly in terms of the worship of his church. We come before a large number of heavenly beings who are observing us from eternity. This observation is not like our observation of an event from the outside. Rather, it is based on the knowledge and wisdom of God in all of His glory. These unseen powers are at work, helping God renew the hearts of men.The more distant a messenger is from the authoritative source of divine revelation, the less power that individual has in the implementation of renewal. This is why all people are subject to the word as it is preached, both prophet and layperson. But when we come before the throne of God in worship, we are actively participating in the reordering of the events and conditions of God's people. We are not only receiving the word with its inherent power, but we are also receiving on our hearts through the pure message of the gospel, because we are approaching the renewal as it were taking place before the throne of God!And in this throne room, God is searching our hearts. He is doing a work that we do not understand. These realities hidden in our sin are being made known to us, so we can understand ourselves in our circumstances. God is coming in all of His royalty and power, revealing Himself in Christ, and in His Fatherly care. He is making Himself known to us through His personal voice, so that He can search our hearts and bring us closer to the realities of the universe. In doing so, He is helping us to understand ourselves and our place in the world better. Not only is God searching and working in this great mystery, but He is also sending out His Spirit who does a work on our hearts, as if God were looking into us and giving us the spirit or the nature of God. In other words, God searches the deep things because the Spirit makes us more and more like Christ. God creates in us the new spirit, the new nature, as the realities in our new identity. The act of converting to a new religion is like destroying the old spirit of our former ways and giving us a new spirit. I hope that we might present the glory of God as He is so that we might experience the awe of what is transpiring from His throne in our changing.
