The law of God is His standard that is eternally enforced. It is not just a suggestion to follow, but is determined by God to make everything subject to His law by enacting punishment on the law breakers. In this punishment, there is retribution. If man could rise up to the standard of God's law, then he would be able to be a law unto himself and be acceptable to God. So we see there is a distinction between human laws and God's holy law. Because God does not show favoritism to law breakers, He demands complete compliance. When I say that man has his laws, I am referring to man borrowing God's laws for his own ends. Because we know that all knowledge of anything is a gift from God to man. All language in the communication of standards is God's fore-ordination of the causes of that knowledge and the purposes in that communication in which God ordains whatsoever comes to pass.If God were to allow humans to carry out their own interpretation of His law, they would destroy the earth and its inhabitants. This is because humans naturally do what is right in their own eyes, regardless of the consequences. In other words, they would enforce their own interpretation of law for their own benefit. This is why we always focus on the underlying causes of reality.Because we see that God not only governs the culture of laws between people, but also describes the spirit of a man. God does not simply describe a superficial obedience to law, but rather goes right to the heart of man. In describing the heart of man, God is the only being who is able to see what is truly there. Therefore, when God describes the wicked hearts of men, He is describing reality. One reason that men may choose to use the law for personal gain rather than following God's description of justice is that they naturally detest God's authority. However, we know that no man can escape God's punishment for breaking the law, and that He will ultimately prove Himself to be the only just judge by bringing an end to man's schemes.God determines the end from the beginning because everything He does is in accordance with His plan and purpose. Without God working in the world, things would be chaotic and unjust, with people acting independently of one another. But God withholds evil in His sovereign design, sometimes allowing terrible things to happen in order to demonstrate His power and glory, while at other times guiding some people down a more destructive path.If God can be mocked, then any demands He makes that are not met would not require payment. However, we know that God not only requires payment for the wicked deeds of humanity in this world, but also that He punished His Son with eternal punishment. Therefore, it would be unjust of Him to only demand a temporary punishment for mankind. The value of the punishment of His Son is seen in His demanding eternal punishment for those who reject His Son. This demonstrates that God takes the issue of sin very seriously, and those who reject His Son will be held accountable for their actions. This is in contrast to the way that men often try to turn God's order upside down in this life, but in eternity, God will reverse the scales. He will reward those who have been wronged and punish those who have committed wrongs for all eternity.
