God is our refuge and protector, and He wants us to take refuge in Him from our past lives. There is no other option available to us – men will only enforce our old life under sin. They will make us think that God is not easily available, and that there is no real retreat from the accusations and irresponsibilities of our past. But now,– God has a refuge available where He can recreate our honor. There is no power on this earth that can promise to recreate us like that.Men often want you to prove that you are a changed person before they are willing to invest in you. However, God wants you to be totally dependent on Him, and He is only happy to make Himself look good by changing you through His grace. When we receive deliverance, it is because we know that there is only one place in this world where we are fully known and totally reliant on someone who can change us through grace. Grace is our only hope of changing.If we do not accept God's grace, we will only continue to be frustrated in our attempts to find someone who has true power. The more we resist the free offer of the gospel, the more we try to avoid the simplicity that is in Christ. The more we avoid the simplicity, the more we are filled with anger and anxiety.What we need to realize is that deliverance can only be obtained when we ignore the voices that tell us "he trust in God let God deliver you." We know that when these voices try to remind us of this, we must stand our ground and say that we will never be shaken because we are standing in God's unmerited favor.
