Ps 9 1 Why, O Lord, do you stand far off?Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? The Psalmist is carefully presenting the compelling argument if God is absolutely justified, why is the natural man successful in redefining Gods Law, spreading violence throughout civil society? How can the natural man get away His fierce attacks against the righteous with impunity if God is a righteous God?
9 2 In his arrogance, the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.3 He boasts of the cravings of his heart;he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.4 In his pride, the wicked does not seek him;in all his thoughts there is no room for God. This is the typical way the Psalmist sets up His argument so he can pronounce the judgement by the curses. The Psalmist describes the problem and administers the law in pronouncements. God desires to learn to identify men, so we are aware of the danger and unburden the weight from being in the wicked world. The first reason a natural man is treacherous, he does not reflect thoughts after God. The Psalmist describes the problem and implements the law in pronouncements.
9 2 In his arrogance, the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.3 He boasts of the cravings of his heart;he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.4 In his pride, the wicked does not seek him;in all his thoughts there is no room for God." God establishes civil societies by constitutional law. The naturals man schemes by redefining law, violating the rights of righteous. We must properly understand, it is impossible to instruct the natural man because God plagued him with moral blindness to law. Therefore, he is in cruel bondage to the sin of ra a. To irretrievably break up all that is good in corrupt society. He must experience the curse of the law and be found guilty before he can be delivered.
9 5 His ways are always prosperous;he is haughty and your laws are far from him;he sneers at all his enemies.6 He says to himself, "Nothing will shake me;I'll always be happy and never have trouble."The ra a man are naturally in social solidarity with other natural men. Over many developed generations redefine constitutional law to carefully construct a secure fortress of gaining power by unjust means. The political world is molded by the aggressive mindset of grievously offending the righteous. The Psalmist carefully teaches they practice criminal offense with impunity. This is why it is describe as cursing the righteous.
9 7 His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats;trouble and evil are under his tongue.8 He lies in wait near the villages;from ambush he murders the innocent, watching in secret for his victims."To redefine Gods Law, is to prominently display and attitude of violent rebellion. A rebellious man causes trouble for the righteous. The violent attack the righteous by spying. Because Gods law controls life and disgraceful death by the terrible curses there is no legitimate reason to spy. The righteous man intentionally hides behind the pronounced curse of the penal law, to miraculously escape the potential dangers of the wicked.
9 9 He lies in wait like a lion in cover;he lies in wait to catch the helpless;he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.10 His victims are crushed, they collapse;they fall under his strength.11 He says to himself, "God has forgotten;he covers his face and never sees." The Psalmist always reasons from their condition to their terrible practice. This is like invariably speaking the fierce curses before he actually pronounces. The accurate description of danger is intentionally exposing his genuine fear. It is a desperate plea for God to listen attentively. Wicked man watches to expose a flaw, so he can prosecute and destroy the righteous. The Psalmist is justly saying if God curses the senseless violence of the wicked, why does He willingly allow the imminent danger?
9 12 Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God.Do not forget the helpless. 13 Why does the wicked man revile God?Why does he say to himself,
"He won't call me to account"?
If you are observant, the Psalmist is genuinely familiar with the Gods
fierce curses more than the imminent danger of the wicked. Because he is baffled by the apparent impunity in violently attacking the God who is the most fearful. He is declaring why the wicked would be so foolish to offend Gods Law that speaks death. How can the wicked think God is not swift in his eternal punishment?
9 14 But you, O God, do see trouble and grief;you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you;you are the helper of the fatherless. "This is the typical way the Psalmist expresses his absolute dependence on God. As if he undoubtedly remains the impersonal party looking on this direct conflict with God who is most fearful in His harsh judgements. This is why the Psalmist places all of His confidence in the pronouncements.
9 15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil man;call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out." The Psalmist asked the fundamental question if God is righteous why does He willingly allow the wicked to spread violence through civil society. Why does God allow the Psalmist to suffer direct threats? You see this turns the entire argument to God asking the question for the Psalmist in pronouncing the curses as the answer. God is saying through the Psalmist, act swiftly to criticize this wicked man with eternal punishment! From the conspiring to the gradual evolution of the scheme, God is calling the wicked to account. We are consistently proclaiming God to initiate those offenses to account.
9 16 The Lord is King for ever and ever;the nations will perish from his land.17 You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted;you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed,in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more."This is the typical way the Psalmist adequately secures the fierce curse. He pronounces the sure end of their judgement. If God is sovereign, He cannot willingly endure other gods. He must undoubtedly bring blessing and cursing together to reduce these violent men to only being men. He must shorten their active lives. It is a thoroughly sound argument.
