69 13 But I pray to you, O Lord,in the time of your favor;in your great love, O God,answer me with your sure salvation." The Psalmist is teaching God produced all things to work in perfect unity. Sin brought opposition to the unity of creation. The opposition to unity practices scorn.God reestablished divine unity by life and death pronouncements. There is nothing we fervently oppose that does not rise up to blessing and cursing. Salvation is complete or no deliverance. All our opposition practice scorn. Our sole hope of being genuinely loved by God efficiently delivering us from scorners. This is why the Psalmist rigorously enforces this plea for miraculous deliverance by the worse curse in the Psalms.

69 14 Rescue me from the mire,do not let me sink;deliver me from those who hate me,from the deep waters.15 Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me."He appeals powerfully to God by three impassioned pleas that progressively increase the fierce intensity. We are delivered from scorners by drawing near to a God who pronounces life and death. His impassioned plea is as terrible as he intentionally draws near to God who assuredly has the most concern for his well being. The nearer to God the more terrible the pronounced curse and the more dominant defense. The raging water gets shallower as the terrible curse gets worse.

69 16 Answer me, O Lord, out of the goodness of your love;in your great mercy turn to me." The saint learns God is naturally drawn to us as our souls are undressed in His presence. The first impassioned plea is a strong petition. If God simply speaks and all is well, mature faith is a transparent petition. God carefully teaches us the profound seriousness of His adequate protection by the desperation of the fervent plea. Saints are skilled in expressing the most passionate petitions. God turn to me, do not hide your face from me, answer me quickly, come near and rescue! The most convincing petition in the bible.

69 17 Do not hide your face from your servant;answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.18 Come near and rescue me;redeem me because of my foes.19 You know how I am scorned, disgraced and shamed;all my enemies are before you." He humbly petitions God graciously according to His simple response in infinite control and Gods standard protection in the intensive care of a helpless sheep. Three most passionate pleas and a stunning argument. "You intuitively recognize how I am scorned!" God deals with us as if all sinners represent our aggressive enemies. God can meet all needs as if no one else existed, in the divine unity of all men.

69 20 Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless;I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none." A professional Psalmist is as sensitive to contemptuous scorn as he candidly acknowledges it for himself. Our evil self-confidence is moral blindness to the criminal violence done to our childlike innocence. Our unique need is as sincere as we carefully follow the terrible violence in hidden places.

69 21 They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar for my thirst.22 May the table set before them become a snare;may it become retribution and a trap.23 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever. 24 Pour out your wrath on them;let your fierce anger overtake them.25 May their place be deserted;let there be no one to dwell in their tents.26 For they persecute those you wound and talk about the pain of those you hurt." God naturally produced us to prosper without organized opposition. We were totally exposed with no legitimate defense against the eternal curse. We are as dependent on God as we acknowledge our inability to deal with opposition. We are desperately dependent on the complete elimination of opposition as God produced us. We have no choice but to universally acknowledge our apparent inability.

69 27 Charge them with crime upon crime;do not let them share in your salvation.28 May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.29 I am in pain and distress; may your salvation, O God, protect me." Its hard for us to come to terms, every sin justly deserves death. If any sin escaped the eternal curse Christ death for sin would signify nothing. We are as threatened as every sin rises to the appropriate level of death. And we are as secured as unable without Christ. This is the transparent plea of our legitimate need for imputed righteousness.
