The Lord speaks to my Lord, announcing, "Take your place at my right hand until I reduce your opponents to mere footstools beneath your feet." Christ reigns from His heavenly throne as the supreme ruler over all nations, wielding His authority with perfect justice through an impeccable balance of law, covenants, curses, statutes, promises, and decrees. The Lord will extend your powerful scepter from Zion, empowering you to govern even in the midst of your foes. On the battlefield, your forces will assemble with eagerness, adorned in the splendor of holiness; from the break of dawn, you will be blessed with the invigorating dew of renewed youth. Through His divine mediation, Christ inspires us, endowing us with both the desire and the ability to achieve triumph, as He infuses His armies with the vitality of youthful strength, particularly within the community of Israel. The Lord has made an irrevocable promise: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek." This covenant with Israel finds its fulfillment in the eternal priesthood represented by Melchizedek, which encapsulates the profound promises embedded within these sacred principles. The Lord stands at your right hand, prepared to defeat kings when His wrath is unleashed. He will render judgment upon the nations, gathering the fallen and crushing the rulers who oppose Him. He will refresh Himself at a brook during His journey, lifting His head in victory as He does so. His dominion extends over both life and death, and His decrees resonate throughout eternity, echoing with authority. We enter this world as tiny fragments within the grand design of the universe, with our capacity for action fundamentally intertwined with the larger cosmic framework. Without divine intervention to shape our awareness of our inherent sinful nature, our existence would swiftly come to an end. When individuals believe that their wrongdoings prevent God from saving them, they unwittingly elevate themselves to a position of equality with the divine regarding matters of salvation, emphasizing their own perceived power over the sacred covenant established between themselves and God. It is essential to recognize that this covenant was sealed with the sacrificial blood of His Son, and it is sheer folly to attempt to negotiate terms with the Almighty. He engages in battle against earthly rulers and seeks respite by the brook, replenishing His spirit like any true man. Christ exemplifies the ideal ruler who governs according to divine principles, much like Melchizedek, offering blessings to His followers as if rejuvenating Himself by the waterside. Augustine insightfully remarks that "they, as it were, speak in us what they hear, while we, after a fashion, learn in them what we teach." In our expressions, we use phrases like "let," "do not allow," "rise up," and "remember," thereby shaping the impact of our words and setting the stage for our audience's understanding. However, such declarations can provoke the wrath of the wicked. Ultimately, success will inevitably draw forth the rebellion of those who oppose good. The potency of our words resonates with the cultural currents that shape society. As it is written, “The words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.” Divine pronouncements rise above mere rhetoric, penetrating the hearts of the chosen without stirring up base desires, skillfully navigating barriers to nurture their deepest longings and aspirations.
