In my exploration of the Psalms, I have found that they exemplify a profound understanding of utilizing spiritual power to navigate and overcome the wills of others. This practice represents an intricate art form, one that requires both discernment and strength. The Christian faith represents a unique remedy for individuals deemed wicked. Hope for such individuals can only be realized when they reach a point of self-awareness and humility. To illustrate this, consider the archetype of the worldly man: a polished individual, often depicted as tall, dressed in a coat and tie, with meticulously groomed hair, exuding readiness and confidence. This man embodies pride and is highly educated, having acquired sophisticated communication skills that enable him to achieve his desires. He maintains a clean and respectable exterior, taking pride in his reputation. This is the quintessential American man of power. However, beneath this polished façade lies a profoundly wicked heart, one capable of malevolent intentions. Additionally, there is a tendency among some Christians to approach evangelism with a simplistic reliance on a few Scriptural verses, believing that mere behavior will suffice to convey authenticity. However, it is essential to recognize that many individuals, upon hearing the phrase "I come in the name of the Lord," will likely respond internally with skepticism, recalling past encounters and formulating defenses against perceived attempts to impose belief. This raises an important question: why do we presume that we can engage in rational discourse with a person characterized by arrogance, whose primary objective is self-advancement? Is it realistic to expect them to listen without a foundation of mutual respect? A significant challenge for Christians is the failure to fully comprehend the struggles and dangers that the wicked individual has navigated to attain their current position. There exists a presumption that the Gospel message will resonate deeply with such individuals. Yet, the contemporary individual has often been subjected to repeated affirmations of God's love, rendering these proclamations ineffective or even irritating. Consider a poignant example: a young woman taken hostage who, in a moment of desperation, requested her captor to pray with her before facing death. While some may celebrate her expression of love, this response is troubling and can be perceived as naiveté. In reality, the appropriate reaction should be one of outrage at the failure to protect her from such a fate. Through my extensive experiences, I have encountered numerous challenges when engaging with wicked individuals. These encounters often manifest as intense battles of will, revealing a propensity for disrespect that is inherent in their nature. It is perplexing to observe fellow Christians who, at times, inadvertently align with those opposing me. The Christian faith, fundamentally, is not merely a message devoid of demands. Historical accounts of martyrs who have endured persecution for their faith evoke a disturbing realization about the lengths to which individuals will go to undermine the Christian message. Our prayers should not be for martyrs to suffer at the hands of the wicked but rather for God to bring such individuals to a state of humility, allowing them to recognize the seriousness of divine authority and, potentially, receive salvation. The naivety of some Christians in this regard is truly astonishing.
