God has made an unwavering promise to us, a promise that is rooted in divine grace. His assurance of salvation stems from His immense love for us. It is crucial for us to recognize that this promise is absolute—both a "yes" and an "amen." This promise does not arise from our own desires or efforts; rather, it is grounded in the immense power that we receive, a power that finds its source in the sacrificial work of Christ on the cross. The cross, in its profound significance, represents the means through which salvation is secured solely by the work of the Holy Trinity. When we yearn for salvation, we are seeking a blessing that has been accomplished entirely through God's initiative. This promise of salvation resonates with us as a definitive "yes" and "amen" when we embrace it with assurance. As sinners, we receive salvation not based on our merit but rather as a priceless gift—an invaluable treasure that we could never earn, fully comprehend, or hope to maintain on our own. It is a free gift bestowed upon us out of God's boundless grace. It is essential to understand that all these promises rest upon the accomplishments of another—namely, Christ. The blessings we receive are lavishly poured out upon us, showcasing the stark contrast between our weaknesses and sins and the overwhelming evidence of Christ's work on our behalf. Consider this deeply: there is nothing we can do, no place we can retreat to, and not even our own doubts or sorrows can undermine God's goodness and faithfulness in providing us with grace for our transgressions. The work is completed; it is finished. We can rejoice with uncontainable joy and fully embrace the gifts that God has graciously given us, knowing that He has already accomplished the work that instills in us confidence—even when we falter in our use of those gifts! Consequently, we find ourselves navigating this world as strangers and pilgrims, not because we strive to make grace appealing, but because we understand that true confidence, peace, and prosperity come from accepting this extraordinary gift. This gift represents the most precious asset imaginable: the unfathomable riches of God's grace, the never-ending forgiveness of our sins, and the promise of being welcomed into an eternal kingdom where all our tears will be wiped away. In the face of our shortcomings, deliberate disobedience, and even our deepest fears and sorrows, we can find solace in the assurance that these burdens are lifted because we measure the value of our salvation against our own experiences.
