There are numerous paths one can follow in becoming a hardened sinner, and as believers, it is imperative that we acknowledge and address our own sinful nature. It is tempting to deceive ourselves into thinking that we are morally upright or enlightened, but in truth, these qualities can distance us from God and His intended plan for us. Our self-perception and perceived goodness may contradict the life that Christ has called us to lead. When we turn to Christ, we often come broken and scarred by the effects of sin. Our past experiences, particularly those inflicted upon us in childhood, shape our understanding of sin and its consequences. While as children we may not fully comprehend the gravity of sin and its impact on our lives, as adults we recognize our own selfishness and moral shortcomings. Sin takes on a different complexity in adulthood, leading to a cycle of self-deception and moral decline. Many adults mistakenly take credit for achievements that should be attributed to God, believing that this makes them good Christian role models. This mindset can corrupt their thinking and influence children to prioritize appearances over sincere devotion to Christ. This can lead children to become focused on outward displays rather than genuine faith. True understanding of Christ's glory and God's power can help us resist the temptation to seek praise for ourselves and instead focus on glorifying God. We must prioritize our love for God over everything else, including our own desires, relationships, and possessions. By surrendering ourselves to Him and setting an example of following His will, we can truly lead in faith.
