We have been authorized to confront negative thoughts and challenge individuals who rely solely on themselves. It is important to acknowledge that many people begin their lives with deceitful intentions rather than turning to God for guidance, leading them astray. Trusting in oneself is akin to dishonesty and reflects a lack of faith in God. Sin, which is essentially a form of deception, cannot be overcome through our own efforts or the assistance of others; only Christ has the power to cleanse us of our sins and their consequences. It is crucial to prioritize seeking refuge in Him rather than putting our trust in human beings. We must strive to find comfort in His forgiveness and love in order to alleviate our pain and sins. Strong individuals resist the temptation of self-righteousness and instead rely on faith, prayer, the teachings of the Bible, sacraments, and regular worship to combat their desires. They are willing to endure persecution and peer pressure for the sake of Christ and the freedom offered through His grace. Our main objective should be to suppress harmful intentions through the guidance of the Bible, rather than creating alternative forms of righteousness or philosophical systems that lead to bondage. The only way to truly break free from control is by seeking complete refuge in God's grace; any other method only results in human control. We are loved by God first, which enables us to love others in return.
