Why would we engage in prayer if we believed we had the ability to alter the course of our lives? If we approach God with trust and the assurance that our requests will be granted through faith, the extent of our trust would be influenced by our desire to take action in addition to our prayer. We would only trust in God's ability if He fulfills His promise. As our knowledge of God grows, we come to realize that He rewards those who demonstrate faith in Christ as the sole means of obtaining our desires. The depth of our faith can be measured by the level of trust we place in ourselves, which detracts from our focus on God's capability. The power in prayer lies in recognizing our own limitations and placing trust in His abilities.
