When we engage in prayer with a spiritual focus, we lower our defenses and enter into a deep connection with our Heavenly Father. This experience is characterized by a powerful sense of being drawn by a love that is willing to accept and forgive our flaws. When we engage in sinful behavior, we allow our distorted perspectives to influence our relationship with God, viewing ourselves as unworthy sinners. On one hand, we feel a desperate awareness of our weaknesses, but on the other hand, we are in communion with a Father who graciously extends His love and kindness towards us, compelling us to fervently seek His guidance. In this state, we recognize the personal presence of the Holy Spirit, communicating and guiding us. Our Father fills us with His grace, empowering us to pray with greater focus and intentionality. It is as if we are anointed with oil, symbolizing a closer reception of God's communication and presence. This transformation evokes a childlike innocence within us, releasing us from the burden of corrupted adult thinking. We become liberated in our connection with our Father, approaching Him with the pure faith and simplicity of a child asking for a gift. In this state, we are oblivious to the complexities and challenges of obtaining what we desire; instead, we possess a steadfast belief that we will receive these gifts. God strips away our reliance on worldly wisdom and methods, enabling us to pray in alignment with the Spirit.
