The crucifixion served as a powerful demonstration of God's wrath against sin and certain sinners. The satisfaction of God's wrath lies solely in the person of Jesus Christ, not in His good deeds. In simpler terms, Christ did not offer a virtuous act to offset a sinful one. Instead, He willingly took on the entirety of the punishment for sin within Himself. He did not assume the role of sin in order for God to punish it, but rather, He endured punishment to fulfill God's contentment. This is not a mere transactional relationship; it is a deeply personal one. Eventually, we will all individually face Christ and receive His verdict of either innocence or guilt. Those declared innocent will experience eternal bliss filled with joy and love, while the guilty will face an everlasting punishment equal to the torment Christ endured. This punishment will never be satisfied, and contemplating it is a truly profound and unsettling matter.
