Based on my personal experience, salvation entails a continuous process of repentance. This involves acknowledging our sinful nature and recognizing that, like all individuals, we are subject to the law and susceptible to corruption. It is through the grace of God alone that we are saved in this state. It is impossible for anyone to claim righteousness or claim to seek God independently. We are all prone to wandering and require the presence of God within us, His grace to strengthen us, and His forgiveness and righteousness to protect us from His wrath. When we are in a state of humility, we are able to truly comprehend the greatness of God. Living a life of repentance means living in the knowledge of our own imperfections before a holy God, and acknowledging His eternal, unchanging love for us, His faithfulness despite our faithlessness, and His goodness in response to our neediness. It is approaching Him with nothing but our sins and relying on His unwavering love as our sole source of acceptance. Living in repentance means understanding both our true selves and the nature of God as revealed in His word, and aligning our lives accordingly. In the state of repentance, we not only mourn for our sins, but also acknowledge the emptiness within our hearts. Our desire is to align our will with what pleases God, to have a longing that is so filled with His Spirit that we are assured of His presence as our Father. This assurance comes from being lifted above our self-centered concerns, fully immersed in adoration and praise. We are able to discern when we are being elevated to a position of unity with Christ, not just in knowledge but also in experience. As we think God's thoughts and delight in what pleases Him, we enjoy a deep fellowship with Him, as He reveals Himself to us through His word. We are impacted by His divine revelations, and in our heavenly perspective, we are both deeply sorrowful over our limitations and profoundly moved to offer praise and adoration. We are elevated to a place where our focus is solely on Christ, and any other objects of affection or pleasure in this world pale in comparison. This spiritual encounter allows us to lose ourselves in worship and adoration, experiencing a face-to-face encounter with God. This transformation is evident by our ability to derive pleasure from God Himself, rather than seeking it from people, things, or circumstances. It is our calling to live with a continual inward renewal.
