Perception or comprehension plays a significant role in shaping one's desires. From the moment we are born, we possess an inherent inclination towards sinful behavior, which aligns with our natural understanding. This inclination towards sin leads us to make choices that are influenced by our biased understanding of the object or system of beliefs. Sin, in fact, is the primary factor that distorts our perception, rendering it irrational. Despite our rational capabilities and knowledge of the immorality associated with perceiving things wrongly, we still consciously opt for wrongful actions. Consequently, sin exerts a more profound impact on our perception than our cognitive abilities. Our previous encounters greatly influence our comprehension of life's challenges. As individuals with passions and physical senses, we accumulate deeply felt memories that shape our understanding and perception. These experiences lead to the formation of habits, which are rooted in the pursuit of pleasure and the avoidance of pain. However, it is important to acknowledge that our attraction to pleasure, even if morally incorrect, stems from past experiences. This tendency to prioritize pleasure contributes to the development of habits centered around sinful behavior. Ultimately, sin holds a powerful sway over our desires, leading us to become irrational in our thinking and distorting our understanding of what is right. The primary obstacle hindering our ability to comprehend these matters lies in our ongoing battle with sin. Additionally, our past experiences undoubtedly shape our perspectives, although they do not inherently intensify our inclination towards sinful desires. In this regard, Jen's viewpoint holds validity. It is important to distinguish between establishing a close connection with someone online versus establishing such a connection in person. Even individuals, regardless of gender, who initially meet online with the intention of fostering a relationship eventually reach a juncture where they desire to elevate the level of intimacy, prompting them to arrange a predetermined meeting.I have been contemplating the notion of how our understanding of scripture is enhanced by not only reading the text, but also by delving into the mysteries surrounding the apostle Paul's identity and the potential significance of establishing a personal relationship with him. Perhaps, it is not solely about Paul himself, but rather about the imperative of seeking fulfillment through direct communication. Could the anonymity of the author of Hebrews be interpreted as a deliberate emphasis on directing our focus towards Christ rather than fixating on the individual behind the text? In essence, the encouragement lies in recognizing that these figures were mere mortal men who, despite their humanity, displayed unwavering perseverance until the very end.Furthermore, there is the aspiration of eventually encountering esteemed saints in the divine realm. It is worth noting that we, as individuals, will continue to evolve intellectually alongside Christ for all eternity. Thus, the essence of our humanity will persist in heavenly splendor, accompanied by a profound sense of contentment. However, we must acknowledge the existence of our world, our local communities, and the individuals we interact with regularly. Within these physical relationships, there is a sense of fulfillment and gratification when we dedicate ourselves to them. While the internet may provide some satisfaction, particularly in the realm of heartfelt writing, it only offers limited fulfillment. Despite feeling tired and unwell, we still possess a desire to contribute positively. Our past experiences undoubtedly shape our understanding, but it is our tendency towards sin that ultimately has a greater impact. If we prioritize past experiences as the primary influencer of our perception, we are being more pragmatic and inadvertently giving more power to our past than to the influence of sin within us.
