If Jesus has established His authority over everything in the New Testament context, then as believers, we exist as His children within His kingdom. The issue at hand, however, is whether He has provided us with tangible means to ensure our personal encounter with this reality. In the previous covenant, the sense of certainty and confidence was not derived from the saints' adherence to the ceremonial laws. Within this covenant, the saints faced a heavier burden due to the requirements of these ceremonial laws. However, it is important to note that the application of these laws varied depending on individuals' social standings, as God dealt with people accordingly.The discrepancy in the interpretation of the law resulted in varying perceptions of what constituted a violation, thereby complicating the identification of those accountable for the aforementioned national rulings and subsequent exile. Throughout history, the concept of salvation has consistently been understood within the context of God's eternal paternal bond with His chosen individuals.The physical attributes such as circumcision, being born within specific borders, and having Jewish lineage, as well as participating in temple worship, did not have any influence on God's election. This is evident in the worship book where David, in his quest to praise God, dismisses any human connection or legal matters by emphasizing the spiritual aspect.He places his complete trust in God alone. Instead of David proclaiming that circumcision, obedience to sacrificial rituals, and identification with a specific nation were the foundation of his certainty, he instead diminishes the significance of these worldly factors to insignificance, in order to elevate God as the ultimate judge of all creation. David's sincerity is demonstrated by his recognition that for God to be timeless and unchanging, salvation must be in accordance with God's sovereign will, emanating from His eternal throne.This serves as the underlying foundation for David's profound satisfaction, as he eloquently employed his firsthand encounters with war to elucidate God's perception of the righteous and the wicked. In this contemplation, David derived immense reassurance from the imagery of ascending to the mountain peaks or descending into the depths of the valley. His assurance was intricately intertwined with his ability to discern whether a particular circumstance or event would manifest as a curse or a blessing in his life. Consequently, I shall delve into the ways in which we can personally cultivate and experience such unwavering assurance.
