Calvinists often rely on the profound teachings of renowned scholars and clergy from previous generations to acquire an understanding of our sovereign God, presuming that such knowledge is equivalent to personally knowing Him as our Father. The manner in which we internalize these divine teachings is by repeatedly affirming our beliefs. However, I contend that it is essential for us to engage with God on an intimate level, expressing our individual yearning for Him to communicate with us directly. The language in question is not merely a repetitive set of teachings; rather, it serves as a means of communication that signifies a profound and reciprocal bond between a son and his Father. It is crucial to recognize that our speech does not solely originate from our personal study or the perusal of written texts, but rather, it functions as a language of prayer. This understanding underscores the significance of progressing from a childlike understanding of God based on mere words to a more intimate knowledge of Him as a distinct and personal entity, as John aptly advises. This implies that our ability to persuade others is rooted in our profound comprehension of our Father's divine communication with us and our ability to effectively communicate based on our individual needs as His children. Rather than perceiving God as merely a subject of debate, we recognize His presence and direct interaction with us, as He reveals Himself in the teachings of doctrine and intimately connects with us in personal encounters that surpass the limitations of doctrine. It is imperative that we consistently strive to exceed the confines of scripture and embrace an extraordinary encounter with God that surpasses our human imagination. This exemplifies the authentic essence of Calvinism.
