When interacting with individuals who differ from us in some way, we often take risks without meaning to. This is because we can forget the guidelines laid out in the Bible regarding when it is and is not appropriate to judge others. The Bible tells us to focus on people's actions, while God looks at their hearts. Therefore, we have no real foundation on which to judge someone who is different from us, even if we strongly believe in our own convictions. We must learn to put into practice what we know, and hold fast to our values, when encountering those who are different from us.This is why the Bible is such an important book--it describes God as the ultimate judge. The point is that whatever view we have of God is how we are exposed to the dangers of being misguided in our attempt to put people in our mold. This is why the apostle says that he judges no man according to the flesh. Now that line drawn in the sand seems to be extreme. But how can the gospel be effective if we do not give it the priority of being the changing agent? It would seem to me the apostle was stepping out of the way of putting forth his personal agenda for the purpose of exalting the gospel of grace. By doing this, the gospel is given the chance to be the powerful tool that it is, rather than being overshadowed by personal agendas. It is important to realize that the gospel is not just a set of benevolent principles to live by, but the only reliable foundation a person can build their life upon if they are seeking to glorify God in their own unique way. Therefore, it is essential that we work together to promote gospel success in order to achieve our common goal. Only through the power of the gospel can people be led under God's control and motivated to live lives of glory.
