This is another point that I wanted to make in my previous post. I had been reading Thomas and wanted to get my thoughts down. It's just my way of adding to my arguments. I find that the more I let these ideas pass through my mind, the more I can present them in a more understandable way. We grow by communicating the gospel to one another. We need to share our thoughts and ideas with each other in order to grow in our faith. My argument is that we are legally clean of all our past, present, and future sins. "Who can bring any charges against those whom God has chosen?"In the context of curses, not as a defense necessarily, but in real terms, the apostle Paul who persecuted the church and then after the appearance on the Damascus rode said, "I do not have the blood of any man on my hands." That is the standard of a man who had gone to heaven, seen visions, and had things revealed to him that no other man had seen. Consequently, we can be confident that we are under no curse and that all of our sins are forgiven. The apostle Paul was the most educated of all the apostles, and he was the one to whom God gave the leadership to bring in the gospel message that repentance would be preached in the name of Jesus Christ. He alone ended our sorrow over sin and death as our personal advocate. So He alone not only is our Savior but He alone is our defense. So when Onesimus owed monies to his former master, Paul, who was the worst of sinners, told the church to put it to the apostles' account. So He is not only our Savior, but our defense. When Onesimus owed monies to his former master, Paul, who was the worst of sinners, told the church to put it to the apostles' account. The apostle Paul was very serious about following God's law. A former covetous man of power had a great impact on Paul, causing him to understand the feelings of alienation, rejection, scorn, and treachery that come with living according to God's laws. All of these things are condemned in God's people, and so in the presence of a stranger who comes into one's company, they are treated as a special one sent from God. That is how much they valued the forbidden actions of the law. They were willing to expose their families to the world in order to show the love of God by His commandments. We have an advocate who speaks on our behalf. When we experience hatred from others or opposition from those who would try to bring us down, we can take comfort in knowing that this was also experienced by Paul. When people hold us to a certain standard of behavior and threaten to damage our reputation if we do not meet it, we can take comfort in knowing that God is a witness to our character. We are confident that the law is our refuge because Christ fulfilled the law on our behalf and because we know that in His name is a strong tower of protection. When we know Christ, we become well-educated in defense against those who would attack us for our faith. This, I think, is the application of justification by faith.
