There are a variety of views among Calvinists regarding the role of God's will in human affairs. Some believe that everything that happens on Earth is in accordance with God's will, while others take a more nuanced view. I generally don't argue with those who hold the former belief, but there are times when I have considered showing them passages from the Bible that seem to indicate otherwise. There are, for example, passages that say "And God looked at what they were doing, and it was continually evil in His sight". I should post some of these passages here to make my point, but I imagine most people are already familiar with them.I would argue that it doesn't make sense for God to label the actions of His creatures as evil, when those actions were His idea and command in the first place. It seems illogical that the Creator would call His own handiwork evil. Therefore, my point is that God is good, and people in general are not. I don't understand why He allows us to do things we shouldn't do, when He could easily prevent it. I do things I shouldn't every day, and I am confident that it is not in His will. But I believe free will is real.It seems to me that you have a mistaken view of what freedom entails. God is not like a cosmic referee who is only concerned with whether people are doing good or evil; He has ordained evil for His own purposes, which we may not always understand. I don't think people choose to do evil things because they think God will judge them for it; rather, all men find themselves in one group or the other. But judging by the account you bring up about Jesus warning the crowds of judgement, it doesn't seem like they really believe they will be judged. What I am saying is that only those who have faith can truly understand what judgement will be like, when they read about it in the Bible. I am not just making a personal judgement about this, but rather, I am reading it with God's guidance and understanding. So when we see the written account of judgement in the Bible, we see how men will be without God's guidance and understanding. This shows us how good God is, by comparison. We are not free to decide whether or not what the Bible says is true
