The Psalms explore human weakness and offer insights into the various challenges and difficulties we may face in life. What we need to understand is that fear of evil is just as detrimental as getting into a situation where we know the sins are more than the numbers of our hairs and must conclude they over took us and yet they are atoned for. The Psalms provide consolation and hope in the face of difficult circumstances by demonstrating that God is always available to help.This is what happens to us in this world. We find ourselves enjoying ourselves a little too much. But if we were to try to control everything like a self-righteous man then we would never get to the point where we allowed ourselves to enjoy ourselves in the company of the wicked and find that the sin had over taken us. I've prayed this prayer a number of times and enjoyed His smile after I enjoy the party too much. I've never been drunk or stoned but I've seen people like this. But there is nothing to fear about being happy and enjoying yourself. God atones for the sin.
