The freedom that comes from knowing that God is involved in our lives and work is the highest form of freedom. This is because we can be confident that we have His blessing and are protected by His law. The law is designed to protect the rights of others and to allow them to live their lives as freely as possible. This is not something that can be changed or negotiated – it is how God has designed things to work. It is up to each individual to decide what they believe is valuable and worth pursuing in life, knowing that they have the freedom to do so.No matter what form of government we are talking about, it is impossible for us to think of it as a purely secular relationship. This is because every man is accountable to God, and no man escapes the curses of the law. Government is a sacred institution because it is ordained by God and is necessary for His people. This is why God works alone – because He is the only one who can act righteously by turning the system of government upside down. No matter how we judge what is just based on our reasoning and our view of government, this has no bearing on what actually happens in God's view of justice.So we may think that the trouble we see in our culture is somehow thwarting God's purposes will in the ultimate end bring glory to Himself. But as I have said, if God is not free to do as He pleases, having no boundaries by how we think according to our laws, then we are not free to be blessed by God in a personal way. We need to be spiritually attuned to understand why God does what He does, and in so doing give Him praise and glory for His care for us. This understanding gives us the freedom to accept His will.
