It is a common saying that everyone is a hypocrite when it comes to sinning. The difference is that an evil man's sins are not covered, whereas a believer experiences a renewal because of his sins. In this sense, we all face the ultimate questions equally. Because we ultimately are all without hope unless someone stands in our place. The Bible calls a man a fool because he thinks he can atone for his own sins and believes that he is better because of his personal disciplines. When we confront God, these individual works of righteousness are put up against our list of sins means nothing. The point is that trust is everything in this life. The things that happen to us in life are a result of our desires. If our desires are in conflict with the desires of God, then we will experience negative consequences. This is because God gives life, but those who seek after death will find only destruction. Sin starts with a desire that does not look for the saving grace in human relationships. God says that our words show the state of our hearts. As I have been saying, God's standard cannot be changed. One cannot control God with religious words. When we approach God, it must be on His terms. It is beneficial for us to see the world from God's perspective, because it is ultimately in our best interest. There is peace in finding God to be who He says He is. God is not lenient in His judgement; He looks at the heart and weighs the motives. The truth is that we stand before God who is infinitely beyond what we could imagine, and His righteousness is based on a work that we could never do ourselves. Seeing the world through His eyes, we realize how awful it truly is. In doing so, we realize how much we need His help and how great His love is for us.
