I agree with you to some extent, and believe that reading him now, he has come a long way. My goal in these discussions is to argue for a way of thinking, so that no matter what we think is the way of salvation, I can give you some of the reasons I've come across in my seven years on this sight, which I call my home. One of the arguments about being saved and having an understanding and assurance that we are saved is that we do not believe any dogmatic truths of salvation. We instead focus on our own relationship with God and Christ, and how we are living our lives. This allows for a more personal and intimate understanding of our salvation, rather than a detached, intellectual one.It is commonly believed by individuals who ascribe to salvation being entirely a function of grace, that this grace is an incomprehensible mystery. However, these individuals are often quick to judge and dismiss those who do not share their views, which is ironic because they refuse to extend the same grace to others that they believe is required for salvation.I have found that the world we live in is one where everyone is subjected to proselytizing in a system of belief. It seems that man cannot function without a god, because we are born into a world where man-god propaganda is pushed down on us constantly. However, man has already shown his independence from God by being related to Adam. So we are born not only into the physical world, but also into a world where we are already disconnected from all the reality that creates connection in our relationship to the physical phenomena of the universe. This is why the bible is so effective in addressing the root causes of deception and other problems. By the Holy Spirit exploring areas of the root causes of this deception through casting down imaginations that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity etc., the bible is able to get to the heart of the matter. If we are to engage ourselves in this art form by being bible students, then we are involved in a battle for the mind. We believe that the bible is all that we need to live a life of Godliness because it is the word of God that will never fail us.We believe that reality is based on the fundamental truths of the gospel, and that salvation goes beyond God simply justifying the sinner. We believe that we are given a teacher in the Holy Spirit who helps us understand the deep, hidden aspects of reality that are too wonderful for us to imagine. We are always led by the teaching we receive from the Holy Spirit. When we sin, we look to the inward Teacher for guidance. When we are confused about life, we look to the inward Teacher for answers. When we are confronted with difficult situations that are too painful for us to bear, we can look to the Holy Spirit for guidance and comfort. The Holy Spirit uses scripture as a means of instruction and defense, providing us with the clear teachings we need to get through tough times. When everything seems to be falling apart, we can take comfort in knowing that our faith is not unfounded. We can trust in God's promises to us, even when everything else seems to be failing. We don't have to rely on guesswork or hope that things will work out - we know that God will always be there for us.
