40 6 "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require." Although the animal sacrifice could not take away sin, God provided it as a way to prove His desires for us. Christ had to comply with the active and passive requirements of the law to represent a sacrifice for us. The law had to be satisfied by the death of the law breaker, and Christ's death performed exactly that. All we are and all we have is gifted to us when we are delivered. Christ's death represent the ultimate sacrifice that allows us to have a relationship with God."but my ears you have pierced" When we are indwelt by God, we become His servants. But God's servants are not in slavery; they are purchased on the slave market to redeem everything they endure and achieve. God administered the law to Israel that was satisfied by the daily sacrifices to manage the curse on lawless nations. The aroma of the smoke blown in the air reminded the heathens of their impending doom. 7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come--it is written about me in the scroll. Jesus Christ provide the suitable substitute who took away our sins when He entered the Temple to proclaim He remains the Lord who replaces the old testament sacrifices and is worthy of our worship. God had implanted the entire revelation of salvation in Christ's coming so that all believers would experience His salvation. The incarnation of Christ covered the past and all that will enter the future. 8" I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart." God has set forth laws which describe all of reality. These laws are perfect and complete, but also mysterious and beyond our finite understanding. We could never hope to satisfy God's requirements on our own; we must be set apart and made perfect. Saints, who have been provided the law and the knowledge of sin, dominate the world through their ability to curse all opposition. We pronounce the eternal kingdom which is beyond our imagination. If God were to eliminate the law, the entire universe would fall apart. The law is what gives order and symmetry to creation. It applies eternal law to all the causes and ends of all things. Even the most minor details of the body and movement of the spirit are controlled by law. God causes all things to happen according to ideal law. Man was produced as a bureaucrat, and he represents the epitome of a law professional. Adam ruled with authority without opposition, due to his power to wield the law. However, the tremendous bureaucrat is now cursed by the law, and he curses himself by acting violently toward his neighbor. The control over the earth presently remains a bondage to the earth. The ability of man to enforce law in the garden was an exercise in supreme control over the creation. Presently man, who was never produced to oppose disorder, manipulates the law to destroy God and neighbor. Man befalls a skilled schemer who can forge his empire by the law. Every generation twists the law, adding one scheme upon another. God had to curse the wicked and renew the creation. 40 9 I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O Lord." The law of desire that cannot be silenced is what salvation is. The old will is replaced by God's desires. This transformation cannot be witnessed by outward action only. It is the word, created from nothing, that we pronounce which sparks our creations into reality. Professionals harbour thoughts after God, describing the truth about all reality. It is reasoned that God needs men who spread the gospel to the world, not merely men who uphold moral values. The Psalmist says he is faithful in telling the saints the gospel, and appeals to God for a prolonged life as a result. It is further claimed that God does not need pacific people and that we should oppose the redefinition of the law by employing the word of God. In conclusion, it is stated that we are fighting a war of words. 40 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly." The Psalmist not only tells the gospel to the saints, but also to the leaders at the gate of the city. When we are silent, we conceal the truth that other people need. God does not require wimpy saints focused on earthly things. He can bear them to heaven early. The Psalmist's argument for continuing to live on this earth is he can always tell people about the gospel. He can broadcast the gospel message to the world. 11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, O Lord; may your love and your truth always protect me." Gods love and truth are like the fire and the light that led Israel to the promise land. We dominate the world because the gospel goes before us. We are a prominent display of Gods love and truth. The Psalmist argues he is not withholding the message of the Psalms from the public, and therefore God should not withhold His mercy from the Psalmist. God only needs people who support others, and not saints who stay out of view of others. Although God does not require anything from us to come into His presence, we still need to learn how to argue for His truth and present our arguments in a way that is appealing to Him. If we use His word correctly, we can convince God of our position. God created man as a social creature, meaning that children forced to isolate from the world will not be ready to be adults. We are creatures of bureaucracy, meaning we need to be challenged with all kinds of people in social settings to mature. We need thinking like God when we relate to others. 12 For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me." Social creatures frequently find themselves in relationships with wicked men. We pick up the evils in our relationships. God grasps our needs by forgiving our sin in the effort to proclaim the gospel. It is worthiest to have scripture in our minds so we don't demand private time. God deals with us through circumstances and not boxes. God does not desire us to be isolated and alone. He desires us to develop relationships with all men, even the evil ones. We must endure the hardships of this world to do this. Sometimes we have much liberty to enjoy relationships and have to endure difficult situations to build strong relationships. 40 12 For troubles without number surround me;my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me."God desires us to be strong and mature so that we can help carry other weak and sinful people. The Psalmist knows the curses will keep him safe so that he is able to endure many situations that would otherwise harm his reputation. If we place ourselves available, God will bear us on the most fascinating journey imaginable. A skilled psalmist can be stretched and will discover God in many unusual places. In Psalm 40, we live like a bird by believing we are pronouncing something too good. Which means we will be steered to places and relationships that are not in the box. God created a vast array of diverse personalities, which in turn allows for robust relationships to blossom. The Psalms provide us with energy, and the act of fascination with different personalities helps to engender a sense of diversity. We derive energy from interacting with diverse people from us, and in doing so, we help to foster a sense of diversity in the world.
