There are two different realities going on inside of me. On the one hand, I am saved and enjoying my Christian life. When I meditate on the word, I am looking forward to heaven, where I experience things I never achieve on this earth. Yet when I look at my life, I often feel weak and my relationships with family and friends never really satisfy me. At times, it can be depressing to tell the truth. I have seen that when we focus on God and worship Him according to His design and through His word, we experience a greater sense of happiness and satisfaction in our lives..This is what the Apostle Paul says: We long to rid ourselves of our earthly sins and the limitations that keep us from reaching our full potential. Sometimes the battle feels like it's going against us, and we don't know which way is up or down. God works these trials into our lives to change us on the inside, and because He is sovereign, He knows what we need at any given time. So asking questions like "What proof do I have that God will keep His promises?" are not good questions to ask. Rather, we should ask those things that argue for God's promises in Psalm 116:1-3.When we're troubled, it can be helpful to remember that God wants to use our troubles for His glory and our natural tendency to connect with Him is helpful. We can find great confidence when we go to the Throne of Grace and argue our case as the psalmist does. We're then free from the burden of having just unloaded our troubles on to the Lord. We can learn how to plead the promises and this will be a life-long adventure.
