There are some enemies, such as shame and guilt, that we can identify and deal with in order to move on from our past. The Bible is a book that describes God's chosen people as those who have been delivered from great sins, and thus it can serve as a guide for us.Even though they have been saved, they still find it difficult to change. This suggests that there are enemies in our past that we can identify and learn from, so that we are not ashamed of our history. There are a few reasons that we might feel shame even though we have been saved from our past, present, and future sins. This is why it is so important to dwell on what Christ has accomplished, so that we are protected from three evils: losing hope, becoming anxious, and experiencing the loneliness of sin.  Christ's sacrifice gives us the hope of a future free from shame, so that we can live in the present without fear or anxiety. The concept of salvation in Christianity refers to the idea of being saved from a life of misery and despair, and being given hope instead. Hope is confidence that one will not experience shame or disgrace. Losing hope can lead to doubting one's faith. Therefore, God has provided a way for believers to be shielded from dwelling on their past and present failures. He has said that when we are saved, He gives us Himself. This takes us out of our old identity or reputation and gives us His name. This power or authority is a representation of our new identity in Christ. So, in a way, it is like when vampires are going to do their evil and a cross is put up in front of them so they become powerless. Well, we have these kinds of curses that visit us. How do we protect our minds from going back to our old mindset of sin and corruption? We appeal to the name of the Lord for protection. Since God has promised to uphold His name in us, we have the right to appeal to God on the basis of that promise. However, our lack of understanding may cause us to be confused about how to approach a holy God when we have offended Him by not doing as He commands. But we can have complete confidence and acceptance because of His name. So we simply need to begin this renewal of our minds by always approaching God according to His promise that He will protect us and that His name will always be the power to overcome all obstacles. This way, we can have complete confidence in our approach to God, and know that He will always be there to protect us and help us overcome any challenges we may face.It is important to understand that, when we are saved, we go from being in a relationship with God in which He is angry with us because we violate His law, to a relationship in which He gives us Himself in order to make us completely righteous. And because of this promise to uphold His name in us, we are free from not having hope, becoming anxious, and dwelling on that power of sin that we struggle with. However, we may still experience moments of doubt or fear. In these moments, we can access God's power and remember the hope of our salvation by turning to Him in prayer and meditating on His Word.It is important to realize that God has taken us from a life of hopelessness and despair, where we were controlled by the law, to a life where He relates to us even though we still fail. In other words, He has decided that instead of changing us completely so that we measure up to His law, He would rather fellowship with us who are weak. He has given us the ability to see real beauty in our dependency upon Him. Because we would not come to Him as we are if we always were confident in ourselves, He has given us freedom when we experience weakness, sin, shame, and anxiety. These evils give us the desire to draw near to God. As a result, we can have a much deeper relationship with Him than we ever could have before.
