Sin is anything that goes against what God wants. It's a rebellion against the rules He has set for us, and can include speaking out of turn or behaving in a way that's not appropriate. So, yeah, we all sin, but some people are actually worse than others – they're wicked. That means they're not following God's will, and in fact, they're rebelling against Him. So, basically, if you're in this category, you're pretty bad. But thankfully, through faith in Jesus Christ, we know that we can be made right with God.Abraham believed that his faith was enough to get him into heaven, and he wasn't worried about doing good works to earn his place there. He knew that his own human faith wasn't strong enough, so he appealed to God for help. When God accepted Abraham's faith, He declared him righteous based on nothing but His own mercy. Even though Abraham was still a sinful man, his faith was not destroyed. This showed that Abraham's faith was real, and not just a facade. In the end, this was what made him accepted by God.The gospel is the power of God that saves sinners. It is a message that can help them understand and appreciate who God is and how they can have eternal life. The gospel is a message that can change a person's view of God, themselves, and their situation. If we believe the gospel is true, it will be effective in changing our lives. However, if we mix grace alone by faith alone in Christ alone with any message outside of this simple formula, it loses its power. God is still sovereign, and He can use part of the gospel to help us learn and grow.Believing that the gospel is by grace alone means that we must declare that we are wicked. How can a righteous person live in the reality that he is wicked, knowing that he can't do anything good on his own? The righteous person comes to God as a sinner, admitting his own powerlessness in the face of God's grace. This is the advantage of living in the reality of salvation as a sinner, because it allows us to recognize our need for God's grace and to rely on Him for help.Acknowledging that we are sinners means that we're free from the consequences of our sins, including eternal doom. In other words, the way to get better is by experiencing the freedom to sin and enjoying the benefits of God's grace, which removes the desire to sin and results in righteousness. The positive effects always produce righteousness, and the negative effects always produce death. The positive effects of grace work in us the fruit of righteousness, while the negative effects of the law work to produce death in our flesh. We don't strictly follow the letter of the law, but we follow the Spirit. The Spirit gives life to the law, which results in death. The law doesn't compel us to come to Christ as if we were still alive to respond. But we believe in experiencing the law, which we can't manage ourselves to gain acceptance by. In seeing ourselves as unable to do this, we conclude that if God were to hold our sins against us, we could be cut down and judged. But in this sense, we no longer live in that old slavery mentality to the law.We live as if there is a great flood waiting to wash over us, but we're perched on this great mountain and the flood of trouble can't touch us. It can't consume us. So we're encouraged as sinners to come boldly before the throne of grace to receive grace or deliverance. Not only from our sins, but from the world, the flesh, and the devil. As sinners, we stand in judgement over the nations.
