I do not believe that there are two separate systems of morality, one from God and one from the Devil. I believe that the Devil, when he tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, did not offer them a competing system of morality, but rather a counterfeit version of the true system of morality that God had established. In other words, the Devil offered a knowledge that was not from God, and therefore was not true. This false knowledge led to the fall of man and has been the source of much evil and suffering ever since. If you were told that you had the ability to meet the Gods demands and then at the final test in the obedience then you would be able to eat of the tree of life and live in perfect bliss. You would be ecstatic because you would have no ability to fail in having oneness with the Trinity and you would always know as you are known. What do you think the devil would offer you as a way to appeal to your reason while at the same time opposing God? He would offer you something that did not exist or something that was not as good as God's ways.Introducing a new idea of equality would involve redefining reality to include two equal systems of morality. These systems would be equally valid, and neither would be opposed to the other. In other words, Satan was offering a different, but equally valid, system of morality to God's. He was not offering something that would be oppressive or in conflict with what God had decreed, but something that would be equal to it.Now man is forever tied to his new relationship to the law of bondage, with the idea that all things are equal. That's why when Joshua said, "If God is God, then follow Him, but if your idols are god, then follow them," he was not offering them what Adam had already failed to meet. He was saying that you can't have two gods, because you are serving Baal as god. He was saying that you have to choose between the one true God and your idols, and you cannot serve both.It is not possible to hold the philosophy that both reality and our ideas about reality are equally valid, and that there is no cause for reality itself; this is not something that originates from the human will. God will not accept any other gods being worshipped before Him, and will not tolerate any equality with other gods. This two-fold philosophy leads to a general sense of apathy and inaction.Do I think that a Christian is exempt from having any problems with their beliefs? No, I don't think that. I think that sometimes it may seem like they are blindly worshipping idols, but the difference is that they are not blind to the problems that I have described. They know that their salvation is not based on any one principle. This is the blindness that we live in when we think naturally.
