I agree that it is important to stand up for our beliefs. However, I believe that the best way to approach a situation is by sharing the word of God with the other person. I believe that this is how we can be successful. The word of God is a powerful weapon, and we become more and more skilled in using it when we have confidence in its ability to create success. Therefore, we should not expect to always get the response we want, but we can be confident that God's word is powerful and will ultimately lead to success. We may be able to come to a compromise, but an evil personality is like having spots on a leopard. So we are involved as one who has the power, what the scripture calls dynamite power, to force compliance by creating by our asking God to not let us enter into temptation. Which is our advantage because we have a loving Father who takes up our causes. Just look at the widow who was at a disadvantage who went before the judge and because the judge was tired of her knocking he gave her what she wanted. This means that we have the power to make things happen by asking God for help, and because we have a loving Father who cares about us, we can get what we want even if we're at a disadvantage. What Christ is teaching here is that we have a fundamental relationship with our Father that is more important than our earthly relationship with our father. So Christ is saying that if our earthly fathers gave us gifts upon our asking, how much more our Heavenly Father. So in this way, how we talk to our Father is more important as to what kind of response we get in the situation. Of course, there is also the other alternative pragmatic view of process theology.
