When we are saved, we are made completely sanctified in Christ. This means that our sin was imputed on Christ at the cross, and we are given Christ's righteousness. So now we are made clean by that transaction. We no longer belong to ourselves, but we are given a new will. Our new life in Christ is a life of forgiveness and growth in His word. Since we no longer belong to ourselves, we have a new relationship to Christ in all of life. His life is in us by His Spirit. We belong to Him.We who have been adopted by God as His children have been given all of the promises and gifts that He purchased with His own blood. He gave us these things so that when we live in this life, and in our experiencing the trials and personal struggles with sin, we might have our identity so close to Him in our present understanding that we might see ourselves as being right only by His goodness in identity. If we live as we are always under the burdens and sins of our flesh, the world and the devil, we are most miserable. However, since we have a new mind being transformed in our new identity, we not only think in terms of having protection from these paradigms, but He is ever our teacher so we are always enabled to persevere in the matter by that engrafted knowledge of our union with Him.Although God sometimes allows us to struggle with sin and be humbled by the experience, this can actually be a beneficial learning opportunity. By being humbled, we learn to rely more heavily on God's strength to help us overcome temptation. Ultimately, these tests of our faith help us to grow closer to God and develop a more serious mindset when it comes to resisting sin.Since we are always free to live for God, nothing can determine to separate us from Him. Then we are made to go to Him in prayer to receive grace upon grace as the remedy of our struggle. The way that God works out His plan in us is by coming in Himself, revealed through His word. This comfort us in knowing God, and when our sin condemns us ,He is greater. The mind of Christ by His union in us, is His power to sustain us , by the power of His resurrection and the implantation of His word, in the promise to always be our advocate. Our attitude about sin should be the reason we need to rest in Him, since we do not have any power apart from being connect as the branches to the vine.We are not designed to focus on our sinfulness, but rather God's unfailing love, His great kindness, and all-powerful protection, which keeps us from falling completely. In this way, we are taught to think correctly by identifying with Him, and we can look back on our former way of thinking with the knowledge that we have grown.
