Ps 58 3"Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward and speak lies. 4 Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears," This Psalm carefully teaches all the pervasive problems of the harsh world are a result of a abject failure of corrupt leadership. Its both spiritual and political. And you witness this universal curse of wicked men going astray put in the broader context of these political and spiritual failures. The Psalms properly describe political evil in the obligatory context of Gods war with the peculiar forces of unavoidable evil in the high places. This is why the bible naturally makes moral distinctions about responsible government, average citizens and religious authorities. Evil is succinctly put in the social context of influential leaders and loyal followers. In this creative way the bible is unwritten from mans horizontal view but from Gods governing view as He sits thoughtfully on His mighty throne from the eternal heavens. God has satisfactorily established His moral law as the moral foundation and back bone of peaceful society. It is the sole authority that reliably produces spiritual and cultural peace. But men are not necessarily crooked from the universal imputation of sin from the garden but from using their wicked thoughts to become their own gods. There is God in eternal heaven, but there are, in addition, principal gods on fruitful earth. So the Psalms teach God in heaven addresses the gods on earth as representing the crooked culture established in the context of the average sinner. In this way God habitually receives a single accusation when the Psalms speak of universal evil in civil societies. We could say that when the Psalms talk about universal evil we are justly saying they are in the meaningful context of the waywardness of the responsible gods of this created earth. This is why I've been saying that God must proactively work in an indirect way through eternal forces to resolutely oppose the active opposition of the heathen gods of this exposed earth that hold men under their destructive power. When God over turns their malevolent power, grace is established and people are released. Therefore, there is only one way to morally oppose evil far beyond our pay scale. This Psalm is sufficiently addressing the evil as God accurately marks it. And positively if you have never spoken the curses then your probable seeing the redemptive success from the bottom up. Your probable talking in the cultural context of the imminent threat of evil ordinarily coming from someone who cannot personally threaten you. Some hardened sinner who vehemently maintains no personal power to aggressively oppose you. But the bible carefully teaches that sin is so deceptive its woven in the varied intricate fabric of what we trust in to marked success, our buying and selling, and our responsible participation in the civic culture through active recreation and arts. We all are biased toward improperly accepting peculiar evil for our political profit. But the curse intentionally includes no sentimental favorites. It aggressively addresses the unavoidable evil in the most righteous looking cultural. The curse rises up above our moral prejudice and promptly destroys the club mentality and the prejudiced we naturally have in the presence of notorious sinners.
