5 12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--13 for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come." The law gives moral reasons for the actuality of all effects. The apostle is avoiding the unreasonable charge that the law was introduced in written tablets established by God. Because God created all effects for reasons established by natural law. Without the law Adam would have been irrational. Thus the law is written in the order and harmony of entire creation. God implanted the law in man that makes him responsible for sin. The apostle is demonstrating the reason identity in Christ by death is reasonable evidence of deliverance.5 15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!16 Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ."The apostle is duly distinguishing between the cruel enslavements to the correctional law against the provision of God by Godly grace. Both active states duly started with death. Man is dead in sin. He can not please God. Without renewed life a wicked man has no renewed desires to authentically seek God. Rather of critically comparing the wicked against the righteous the chosen apostle is comparing" dead in sin"in a state of dissatisfaction against the generous provision of all honored saints whose sin is contained by implanted law in the blessed state. The considered saint has the advantage in the victorious war with the wicked by precisely manipulating the eternal curse of the moral law. The"how much more" provision of Christ that abundantly satisfies the law exceptionally gifts the saint with eternal control over the fruitful earth through kings pronouncements.
