When we allow the world to define what is greed and giving we are putting ourselves in bondage. The gospel cannot be controlled by any political system. The gospel is not temporary or pragmatic. Bow down or be cursed. Accept free grace or be eternally condemned.
Successful people in this world are cursed. And that will not bode well for a christian. Because a natural man hates free grace.
Solomon places more value on relationships than status or the worlds value. Teach your kids by exposing them to good relationships. Let them learn how to relate so they wont want to be controlled by the status.
You children do not belong to you. God is not subject to our definition and control. Your life cannot be controlled by anything outside of God. God is bigger then economies, doctrinal systems and a persons status. Your God curses all wicked opposition. He controls you.
There is a man who pretends to be rich, but has nothing. And then there is another man who pretends to be poor, but has great wealth. Solomon is constantly comparing the value of the proverbs with the political system in a bureaucratic culture. This is why the proverbs accurately represent directing a person to the glorious gospel.
God has all things, and he gives them to us free. But greed is something that is not godly. The gospel purposefully has broken cultural barriers.
The heathen world doesn't understand God. People are trying to take control of the things God has given us. The glorious gospel gives away extraordinary gifts.
The need to control what other people have is not the way of the true believer.
We must carefully place the proverbs in the specific context of the considerable value of the holy word in direct comparison with wealth and social status in modern society. If the gospel doesn't take care of social need, greed will become the main motive.
Parents your kids are not little accountants who learn how to control money and value status. Your kids are Gods possession who need to develop good relationships by the principle of giving rather than receiving. The lesson of greed is Solomon's warning.
The reason the world has financially collapsed is because movers and shakers who control the money failed. God created us as social creatures not status hunters. If the people with money are fools why should we be concerned with money value? It is a fantasy.
Your kids are more innocent then parents. They are open to relationships. They will teach you to be ashamed of your focus on status. You need to learn.
13 7 "One claims to be rich, but has nothing; another claims to be poor, but has great wealth." Solomon constantly compares the considerable value of proverbs with political status in a bureaucratic culture. That is why proverbs accurately represent a person's direction towards the glorious gospel. The gospel is that God undoubtedly owns all things and delivers them efficiently and freely. Greed is Unholy The gospel intentionally violates cultural boundaries. He is undefined of the pagan world. Personal greed tries in vain to control the gifts of God; the great gospel gives extraordinary gifts. We must carefully place proverbs in the specific context of the tremendous value of the sacred word in direct comparison with wealth and social status in modern society. If the everlasting gospel does not support social needs, unbridled greed will naturally become the main reason.
