11 5 The Lord examines the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and those who love violence.“ The key question, if God simply hated emotionally, the psalmist would have laughed at the innocent suffering of the beloved saints. God was like the emotional reaction of men, why would the psalmist make a declaration of God's moral authority by satisfactorily addressing the specific question: "Is it okay to turn around and quickly run away when we are?" inevitably faced with abuse? Curses as a satisfactory answer. God is not a distant and sovereign person. If God cannot decree our effective protection, why should we tease those exposed with a sovereign God who can either and cannot deliver us? This use of the terrible wrath of God in the Psalms is not an emotional suggestion, but a mechanical defense in authoritative statements.God is different from helpless men because he decrees terrible vengeance against the wicked in authoritative statements! He naturally revels in divine vengeance as a sufficient reason that we cannot take revenge.
