That's funny because we, who believe that only God can change a person or a situation, are accused of exclusivity. What I write is not necessarily an argument for my position, but comes from years of internal biblical dialogue. Our first resistance to our daily beliefs is that we have failed in an area which is our focus on choosing something of our free will. The reason we test the validity of something is not to say that it is our free will. When we start to disagree, it's always the only reason they disagree with us.Why did Jesus, who could see a man's heart, enjoy the company of desperate people? Because there was a certain freedom, these people had to know that they were desperately lost and not even strong enough to get out of the pain. Trusting their own free choice, they loathed themselves too much.
The question is, why did Jesus always refer to these people when he spoke of salvation? Why not use the Pharisees as an example of exercising their free will to be in a position of salvation? It is precisely this mysterious language that comes from the heart to stand upside down that is evidence of salvation in that person's heart.
Liberation always begins when we acknowledge our ineptitude. We have many ways of saying it of my free will, yet our confidence prevents us from a new conversion.
This is the secret of salvation. Of course, if we do not have the power to practice the Christian experience, we are weighed down above all hope. We are overwhelmed by all kinds of evils. Why should God take all our trust and then demand obedience?Obviously, God is not talking about the absence of power, but about how that power is imparted to us in salvation. He says if you lose yourself you will find yourself. What he says is that we can only move forward in his power!
