The fundamental doctrine of total depravity leaves a bitter aftertaste on some responsible people, and yet, with all this focus on overcoming sin, where has it taken us? We have a nation full of negative addictions, but it's funny because most of us religious are more preoccupied with denying that evil exists at the level where it essentially exists. I reasonably assume that there is a risk of only being protected from this political reality.
So you have constructive thinking as the mechanism for achieving balance in this life and believe me, I am in favor of constructive thinking, but we are morally obliged to live indirectly in this violent world. Because if we simply try to see everything in a positive light, we will not achieve a realistic level of empathy for people who are suffering and we will not participate in their redemption intentions. Because he does not try to make the world more moral, but to gently liberate oppressed people. from the evil world and from Satan. The only way to set someone free is to be in the world.
Therefore, we need to focus on the goal and not on ourselves, sin, for we could spend our entire lives undoing what has already been done to us and within us. But there are some sins that we will fight aggressively for life. If we look at the state of the world and live how bad we are instead of trying to help someone who is less fortunate, what's the use of being so self-centered?
The Bible promises that we will not turn away from the terrible truth, but it does not promise that we will overcome all evil within us. So unless we eliminate all evil, we run the risk of thinking that we are worthless. : The closer we get to overcoming evil through exertion, the more we will turn our eyes to all the evil we have for putting a stake in the ground, that is silly and robs us, but it requires us have a vision of The Depths. The Bible points out specific sins to sufficiently prove that sin is real and enters our hearts and lives.
If we focus too much on our sin all the time, we will never see enough to harshly judge sin in the political world. Hence, we are informed to focus on Christ, not ourselves and our sins.Because Christ moves us forward; Christ overwhelmingly opposes the political forces of terrible evil in high places; holds on to a holistic view of the world; how stupid it would be if we were so self-centered that we are always ashamed. So weakened that it is actually impossible for us to be liberated? But by focusing on Christ, we are not focusing on one thing, for because of His wisdom we are maintaining an active opposition to the Fall.
